The background here is a photo of Aurora
borealis or Northern Lights -- a phenomena that occurs in the far north where the Finnish Lapphund originates.

We are a small home-based kennel in southern New Hampshire raising Finnish
Lapphunds -- a beautiful breed from northern Scandinavia that have been used by the Saami people for hundreds of years to
herd reindeer. As might be expected from their job description, this breed is agile, courageous, and intelligent but
also very friendly and loving.

Lappies, like other herding breeds, show an aptitude for many activities besides herding
including agility, flyball, frisbee, and tracking.
Our dogs are primarily friends and companions and other activities are secondary to this.
As we only have one brood bitch and one stud dog at this time, puppies will typically not be available more often than once
per year.
As our pups are whelped and raised in our home, they
will be well socialized and well accustomed to the sights, sounds, and smells of life in the home.
Finnish Lapphunds are not yet fully recognized by the
AKC. It is expected that they will be able to compete in the Misc. Class of AKC shows beginning in January of 2009.
If all goes well, full recognition may occur a year or two later.

The origin of our kennel name
is a contraction of the Saami word 'arbi' meaning 'the legacy of' and Suzi's registered name, Indra.
